All of Blanche’s core curriculum: Improv Fundamentals, Improv Scene Work and Game of the Improv Scene, plus Coach the Coaches in a little under 3 weeks!! It’s the same material as the 8 week courses… just during the day… in quick succession! Oh! And a class show case of course. That’s at night.
Each course is £290 or sign up for all three improv courses for £780.
Discount does not apply to Coach the Coaches.
Improv Fundamentals
A 3 day intensive course focused on developing the fundamental skills which make long form improv feel fun and easy.
When: Monday 14th July - Wednesday 16th July, 10am - 5pm each day
Class Showcase: The Blanche Improv Extravaganza Sunday 20th July at 7.30pm
Where: Blanche Improv HQ in London SW5 9EF

What to expect from the course: Learn (or recap) the skills that make improv feel fun and easy... or easier. Blanche’s course in Improv Fundamentals covers:
Listening. Like, really listening
Accepting and celebrating your scene partner’s offers
Creating a rich base reality to play in
Object work and stage craft
At the end of the course, participants should be able to perform a 2 minute improvised scene, adhering to the principles covered in the course. (The scene doesn’t need to be funny, it just needs to make sense in an improv kind of a way.) The show case format for this class is an Armando.
There will be a maximum of 12 participants in this course.

Who is this course best suited to: This course is for anyone, but for different reasons.
Beginners: People who have never done improv before will be introduced to techniques essential to performing improvised theatre.
Intermediates: Maybe you’ve just finished a Game of The Scene course and your BRAIN HURTS!!! A course in improv fundamentals will remind you of how much fun improv is!
Experienced Improvisers: Sometimes we get so clever with our improv we forget to do the basic stuff and all of a sudden shows go off the rails, performances aren’t fun or we feel bored and out of sorts. Come back to the basics! Play with people who are new to improv and challenge yourself to support them to the moon!!

Improv Scene Work
A 3 day intensive course which focuses on helpful acting techniques for improv.
When: Thursday 17th July - Saturday 19th July, 10am - 5pm each day

What to expect from the course: Learn acting techniques that work well in improv, so you consistently create scenes you love being in. Blanche’s course in Improv Scene Work covers:
Connecting with your scene partner
Using sensory work to reveal the ‘who’, ‘what’ and ‘where’ of a scene
Enhancing scenes by being specific about your object work
Creating characters you can sustain and that work well in improv scenes
Emotional responses for improv
At the end of the course, participants should be able to confidently perform a variety of 2 minute improvised scenes demonstrating their ability to connect with their scene partners and play at least one character who is slightly different from themself. The show case format for this class is a La Ronde.
There will be a maximum of 12 participants in this course.

Who is this course best suited to: This course is for people who have done some improv training. If you are a complete beginner, Blanche recommends you take Improv Fundamentals before Improv Scene Work.
Intermediates: Take your scenes to the next level! Develop your ability to play organic, long form improv scenes. Learn how to create great characters that work well in improv.
Experienced Improvisers: Push the limits of your improv- play voice of reason characters that are interesting in their own right, learn how far you can take your wacky characters and when to reign them in. Spend some time doing lovely, satisfying, grounded scenes that just make sense.

Game of the Improv Scene
A 3 day intensive course in long form improv entirely focused on the skill of discovering and playing game of the scene.
When: Wednesday 23rd July - Friday 25th July, 10am - 5pm each day

What to expect from the course: Learn to love Game of The Scene. Game is so simple, it’s tricky!! With Blanche, you’ll keep enjoying improv during this awkward stage in your training. Blanche’s course in Game of the Improv Scene covers:
Game of the scene and various definitions
The skill of spotting game when it appears in an organic scene
Premise based initiations and how to support them
How to use your base reality to inspire your next game move
Object work and stage craft that enhances game
Fuelling your game with emotion
At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
Play a long form improv scene with a clear base reality and an unusual thing
Initiate a premise based scene
Support the initiation of a premise based scene
Understand the terminology Blanche uses to describe game, elements of game and types of scenes
The show case format for this class is an Armando, with premise initiations.
There will be a maximum of 12 participants in this course.
Blanche asks everyone in the Blanche Improv community to follow her Code of Conduct and students are required to abide by the Student Agreement.
Who is this course best suited to: This course is for people who have done at least two levels of improv training. Blanche recommends beginners take both Improv Fundamentals and Improv Scene Work or the equivalent before enrolling in Game of the Improv Scene. This course can be a bit tricky and Blanche really wants you to have a great time on your improv journey, if you’re not sure whether you’re ready for this course, email Blanche and she’ll give you some guidance.
Intermediates: This is a fabulous course to learn game of the scene for the first time! Blanche is super supportive and understands that it can be a bit of a trip when you first start playing game scenes. She’ll look after you!
Experienced Improvisers: Blanche has specific insights on how to love Game of the Scene so it stays fun and doesn’t become a test of your improv maths skills. She encourages performers to use their bodies, engage in space work and play fun Voice of Reason characters.

Coach The Coaches
A course for experienced improvisers to learn how to effectively coach improv in various settings.
When: Monday 28th July - Thursday 31st July, 10am - 4pm each day
This course includes four full days of practical and theory sessions plus class observation and supervised teaching at Blanche Improv arranged on an individual basis.

Understanding the role of an improv coach
Setting and upholding boundaries and expectations between a coach and their students
Effective communication appropriate for various improv learning contexts
Understanding different learning styles and teaching methods
Running exercises
Side coaching
Running a feedback session after a scene
Lesson planning
Teaching admin
Develop your own teaching style
At the end of the course, it is expected that students are able to plan and run an improv class or rehearsal that fulfills a specific learning outcome.

Please note that successful completion of this course is in no way a guarantee of future employment or offer of work at Blanche Improv.
Who is this course best suited to: This course is for experienced improvisers who want to share their love of improv with other people. It is expected that participants have a strong understanding of improv theory and experience as a member of an improv team. The course is focused on developing the skills required to share improv knowledge. Very little time is dedicated to improv theory as it’s expected that participants already understand improv techniques and know plenty of exercises. Blanche reserves the right to decline enrolment in the course if these prerequisites have not been met.
