What to expect from the course: Acting for improv is a little different from many other styles of acting. Some acting skills are super helpful for improv and others kinda get in the way!! Blanche has developed a course to help improvisers improve their acting skills so that they can play believable improv scenes and super fun characters! During the course, all the skills will be related back to improv and how you can apply them in an improv context.

Participants in this course will be expected to read scripts, learn lines and rehearse with a scene partner outside of class time.

Blanche’s 8 week Acting 101 for Improvisers covers:

  • Script analysis

  • Defining and playing character objectives

  • Connecting with your scene partner

  • Expressing emotion

  • Understanding the context in which a script was written

  • Voice

  • Physical expression

  • Overview of common acting methodologies and terminology

At the end of the course, participants should be able to analyse and perform a short scripted two hander scene.

The show case for this class will be scripted two hander scenes.

There will be a maximum of 12 participants in this course.

Blanche asks everyone in the Blanche Improv community to follow her Code of Conduct and students are required to abide by the Student Agreement.
